Virginia Microelectronics Consortium

The Virginia Microelectronics Consortium (known as VMEC) facilitates university-industry partnerships that can address the educational, training and research needs of the Commonwealth’s microelectronics industry and contribute to the development of Virginia as a location of choice for the microelectronics industry. The Consortium is designed to utilize the complementary skills, expertise, and facilities of the Commonwealth’s universities, community colleges, major laboratories, and growing microelectronics industries to deliver seamless, flexible, high-quality instructional training and research programs in microelectronics and semiconductor technology with a strong fabrication emphasis.

Our Mission

Assist the semiconductor industry in Virginia by providing expert help, educated engineers, and scientists. 


State-wide education, research, and development in micro-electronics, nano-electronics, and related fields.
